About This Item
Emil J. ROHNER was born 14 Mar 1918 the son of Emil and Olga ROHNER and were residents of North Bergen and West Hoboken. Emil Jr. enlisted as a private in the Army at Fort Dix, NJ. He served with the Counter Intelligence Corps (CIC) during World War II. During the War, Emil's parents were fastidious collectors of newspaper clippings not only about their son, but also other residents of North Bergen. This collection contains dozens of newspaper clippings, photos and other ephemera saved by the ROHNERs and provides a glimpse into life on the North Bergen homefront during the World War II.
Emil J. ROHNER Jr. survived the War and lived in Red Bank, NJ in his later years. He died 18 August 2003.
The collection was purchased on eBay from Mark Vandriel of Old Bridge, NJ and donated to The Hudson County Genealogical & Historical Society by Michael E. Bigelow, Lt. Col.(ret.), Command Historian, U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command History Office, Ft Belvoir, Virginia on November 9, 2010.
